We are dedicated to improving the lives of America’s Warriors facing mobility challenges and trauma related conditions such as PTSD and TBI by providing the highest quality service dogs and canine assisted therapeutic programs. Because we are a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on help from our dedicated volunteers and supporters within the community.
Paws for Purple Hearts is looking for a bright, energetic, and motivated volunteer to help assist us while at public and in-house events.
Some of the preferred requirements/duties are:
- Implement PPH’s PR and marketing plan utilizing staff, volunteers and connections at the regional level
- Help recruit volunteers as puppy petters, puppy parents and other roles
- that will support organizational needs
- Help plan regional events, open houses and tours
- Commitment to the Paws for Purple Hearts mission, goals, and objectives
Prior experience is preferred, but not required for this position and includes but is not limited to:
- Knowledge or some experience with/of Service/Assistance Animals, ADA laws, language and the types of assistance dogs
- Preferably military background or experience
- A minimum of two years in a fundraising/communication role with a nonprofit organization
- Some experience in public relations, marketing and social media management in the military or nonprofit sectors
- Work in or knowledge of Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injuries and/or mobility disabilities
- Work in or knowledge of the Veteran and Active Duty Military communities

Description
Paws for Purple Hearts developed an innovative therapeutic intervention for Veterans and Active-Duty Military Personnel in which those with trauma-related conditions resulting from Post-Traumatic Stress or Traumatic Brain Injury actively participate to help train and prepare service dogs for their comrades with mobility challenges and/or trauma-related conditions. Paws for Purple Hearts builds on the time-honored tradition of Warriors helping Warriors.
