Event Description:

FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC (No registration necessary)
Event is best suited for families with children ages 3-18.

After the downtown MLK march, head to the Carnegie Center to honor the legacy of Dr. King. Join us for lunch and an inspirational speech. Participate in activities and workshops centered around visual art, poetry, and music. Families will also have the opportunity to engage in a service learning project making welcome cards for the families of the Kentucky Refugee Ministries.

Every child will take home a free brand new book! Multiple titles and reading levels will be available.

Program and schedule for the day:

11:00 am- Volunteers arrive at the Carnegie Center for a brief orientation to the building and activities prior to the event.

12:00 pm- The building opens to the public.

12:30 pm- Volunteers will begin serving lunch to the guests in the Stuart ballroom on the main floor.

1:00 pm- Keynote in Stuart ballroom

1:20 pm- Workshops begin, including the service project. Volunteers will help the workshop leaders and lead some activities for the younger kids in the gallery.

2:30- 3 pm- Clean-up
