Monday- Mindful Moments: Students will come together to learn about mindfulness practices and soft skills to help create and maintain healthy relationships. We will cover topics like learning how to talk to your teachers when you need help, ways to set healthy boundaries with friends, and how to communicate more effectively with parents. We will also focus on mindfulness practices such as awareness without judgement, gratitude, and reframing. There will likely be a lot of arts and crafts in this group as well since SEL (Social & Emotional Competence) is a big component and they work well together.
MONDAY - 3:00 - 4:15 pm
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE RSVP (RETIRED AND SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM)
RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) is the nation’s largest network for volunteers age 55 and over. The growing segment of our older population is vital to strengthening our communities through their interest in helping others. As an RSVP volunteer, you are strengthening the positive impact people 55 and older have in our communities. Our focus is to incorporate meaningful volunteer opportunities that provide purpose and a way to give back to the community.
RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers as it matches their personal interests with opportunities to serve in their communities. Pierce County volunteers serve thousands of each year...what a positive effect this has in the community!
Current RSVP volunteer positions include local museums, the arts, special events, food banks, congregate meal sites, non-profit thrift stores (shopping assistants, sorters, warehouse assistant, truck assistants, retail assistants, assemble furniture in a fully equipped build shop), administrative/clerical assistants, construction volunteers (no experience required), and reading buddies, math and reading tutors, Senior Friends and Social Engagement, a program of Lutheran Community Services) uses volunteers for Zoo Walk, Memory Café and Music Mends Minds) all throughout Greater Tacoma, Puyallup, Graham, Lakewood and Gig Harbor/Peninsula area.
We continually add new and unique volunteer opportunities.
We celebrate our seniors and have several recognition events throughout the year, we also have mileage reimbursement of $30.00 quarterly if you drive at least 5 miles to the volunteer site.
RSVP is sponsored by Lutheran Community Services Northwest, a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of the people it serves.
