ORGANIZATION: A Family For Every Child

Our Permanency Program Assistant positions provides a real world work experience in multiple areas which could include outreach, organization, scheduling, community involvement, document creation, social media, marketing, and a great deal more. This is a great opportunity to learn marketable skills as well as do important and valuable work while supporting at-risk, foster and homeless youth in our community.

Under the supervision of the Permanency Director, candidates will complete tasks related to the multiple permanency programs A Family For Every Child supports. This internship/volunteer position is ongoing and there are positions with flexible times/duration.

Candidates may conduct document creation and editing, seek out free and low-cost activities for our program newsletters, research topics for program, and agency national newsletters, create youth biographies, research, schedule, market and attend youth outings. Candidates may also assist with Host Home licensing, assist with tabling events and community outreach, and assist with recruiting traditional and non-traditional mentors. Other tasks may include creating marketing emails and social media posts.

Candidates must have the ability to log notes on all conversations, communicate accurately and efficiently with excellent oral and written communication skills, have the ability to communicate with diverse populations, strong computer skills, be responsible and well organized with attention to detail. Candidates must possess the ability to meet deadlines.

While experience with Microsoft Office and Google Docs types of programs is not required it is highly preferred; experience utilizing Adobe products is also welcomed. Phone skills are a plus as are those who are outgoing, motivated, dedicated, confident, punctual, conscientious and who can work independently as well as part of a team.

Candidates should have a strong desire to help at-risk, foster, and homeless youth in our community and to connect with adults of all ages to support these youth.

Minimum time commitment:
3 to 6 months
6 to 12 hours per week

Description

A Family For Every Child, a nonprofit organization, was started by Christy Obie-Barrett and dozens of dedicated and passionate volunteers. In 2006, AFFEC was formed and developed into an organization focused on finding permanent and loving adoptive homes for Oregon's waiting children. We started with our first project called The Heart Gallery in November, 2006, and now we have blossomed into ten incredibly successful programs. None of this could have occurred without the wonderful support from thousands of volunteers, sponsors, in-kind donors, photographers, and many more!
