Do you care about getting people the fresh food they need? Do you want to give back to vulnerable New Yorkers? Then this is the opportunity for you!

Lantern Community Services champions the independence and well-being of chronically homeless New Yorkers. We believe the best way to end homelessness is to give people a stable, affordable home, and that supportive housing is the first step towards a better life.

Lantern delivers comprehensive services in our supportive housing sites. We provide our clients-many of whom live with mental illness, addiction, disability, HIV or other chronic illnesses-with the tools to integrate into the greater community. With proven results in health, employment, education and life skills, our client-centered and evidence-based programs are delivered by experienced social workers inside each of Lantern’s residences.

Currently, we are looking for volunteers to help with our Fresh Food Box program. Volunteers would help us distribute an assortment of seasonal fruits, vegetables, eggs and grains sourced from local farmers. This would be once a week for two hours on Tuesdays from 1:30-3:30pm. This is a great way not only to help us deliver fresh foods to our residents, but to also connect with our residents and help them live healthier lives!
