Have you served in the military? Do you come from a military background? Do you have experience working closely with someone who served in the military? We are looking for volunteers who have military experience and would like to volunteer their time and efforts with a Veteran patient. Traditions Health is national partner of We Honor Veterans, a pioneering campaign developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Through this partnership, we ensure that our team has the knowledge and is equipped with the skills to provide the best care for our Veterans. We recognize that military history contributes significantly to the care we provide our Veteran patients.
Traditions Health strives to provide Veteran-centric care during end-of-life. A prominent need for Veteran Volunteers to volunteer their time with someone who is on hospice allows for sharing of stories and experiences. Veteran patients continue to be honored for the service they provided by allowing us the opportunity to serve them. Military experience is unique to those who have served and that camaraderie is a source of support and comfort at end-of-life.
Volunteers can dedicate time to our Veteran patients and enrich the lives of our patients by:
- Assisting with pinning ceremonies, honoring, and presenting certificates
- Participating in our legacy program (when appropriate) so our Veterans can tell their story
- Providing support to families and loved ones
- Educating the community about Veterans and hospice care
- Participating in Veteran Cafes
- And so much more!
Traditions Health provide hospice services to patients across Orange County, as far north into LA County as Whittier and La Habra, down to San Clemente and San Bernardino County (i.e Rancho Cucamonga, Pomona, and Chino Hills), wherever the patient calls home. Patients may reside in their own home, board and care home or facility.
