Girls Rising is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving San Diego County. Girls Rising helps girls achieve success through our mentoring program by pairing each girl with an individual mentor to serve as a positive, consistent role model in their lives. In addition, the program offers a series of social, educational and character-building events for our Big and Little Sisters throughout the year to promote a sense of community, increase social support and introduce the girls to new experiences. We assist each girl in setting an individual goal upon entry into the program and measure progress and reset new goals annually.
The mission of Girls Rising is to empower at-risk girls to recognize their value and pursue higher goals through a community of women mentors.

Mission Statement
The mission of Girls Rising is to empower girls from eight years of age to early adulthood through a sisterhood of mentorship and career readiness support. Our Girls Rising Mentorship Program is built through example and community. We believe the value of mentorship is realized through positive modeling and support for girls aged 8-17 from San Diego and Riverside County areas with the greatest need. Our program for young women between 18-24, Women Emerging, focuses on career readiness and personal development.
Description
Girls Rising aims to build strong, empowering relationships through positive role-modeling and support for girls aged 8-17 and young women ages 18-24 from historically underserved communities in San Diego and Riverside counties. Our program helps girls and young women develop supportive, key relationships and allows them to feel a sense of belonging to a community that is built on sisterhood and connection.
We match our girls, or Mentees, with a female Mentor that can provide support, guidance, and opportunities to help navigate social and economic barriers and help meet their goals. Our Mentors encourage their Mentees through positive role-modeling and a consistent, 1-1 relationship. Learning from a positive female role-model on also ensures they will be able to face challenges with confidence and will be empowered to think of a future without limits!
