Mission Statement

"To empower underserved girls to recognize their value and pursue higher goals through a community of women mentors."

Description

The mission of Girls Rising is to empower underserved girls to recognize their value and pursue higher goals through a community of women mentors. Our vision is a world where all girls know their value, have the skills to impact their own future, and have support available to reach their goals.

Our Big Sisters commit to spending time with their Little Sisters two to four times per month for a minimum of one year. We train our mentors to assist the Little Sisters with goal-setting, increasing self-esteem, and graduating each grade on time.

Through our program, the Little Sisters also gain a larger support network of women and girls. We host six to eight events each year for our matches, focused on exposure to new experiences, education, and building self-esteem and life skills.

I want to make an impact in one or many lives, I want to reach the audience by making them reflect or make them value life. I know I will learn so much a long the way as well.

Not only do the volunteers work very hard to build a good foundation for a positive future, but the organizers do everything they can to create team building events, Big Sister only events (with terrific sponsors), and holiday parties. They have been a huge part of my life for 2 years now and I wouldn't have it any other way! They are a caring and hard working group who strive to really help us make a positive influence on a young girl's life who otherwise might not get the opportunities they deserve. I'm now working with my second little sis and it's an amazing experience with so many happy and fulfilling moments.
