You must be at least 18 years of age or older to volunteer with our organization. Volunteers should complete our application and must complete a background check with Sterling Volunteers. Most background checks are approximately $20 depending upon the state where you live. New York state and international background checks are significantly more.
We are looking for individuals who are feeling called to facilitate support groups for survivors of abuse and sexual trauma. Our program provides online support using the Zoom platform to facilitate support groups for individuals who are at least 18 years of age. Training is required with us. Training is on Zoom in a classroom setting followed by in-group training.
We are looking for candidates who are able to commit to at least 2 hours per week (1 group) for at least 6 months of group facilitation (after training time). There is approximately a half-hour preparation, communication and admin work for each group facilitated. Candidates should know that we are a faith-based organization and some of our groups are Christian based while others are not. We provide support to any survivor who seeks support without discrimination, and we expect this of our volunteers as well. Anyone may volunteer, but faith-based groups may only be facilitated by those who are Christians.
Groups we offer currently are Trauma Recovery, Domestic Violence Recovery, Faith & Trauma, Men's Survivor Support, Women's Sexual Assault, New Life Classes, and a variety of educational workshops.
