About US Horse Welfare and Rescue Org, Inc
Location:
Waterville Rd, AVON, CT 06001, US
Mission Statement
Our Mission is to promote the safety and well being of all equines through educating the general public, providing supportive programs for horse owners and assisting in the rescuing of horses from the slaughter pipeline.
Description
We are a 501c3 non profit, all volunteer group working hard to care for our rescues as well as provide outreach programs for horse owners in need and educating the general public regarding the plight of America's horses as too many end up in the slaughter pipeline.
Our developmental programs include a hay bank, foster home programs, safe surrender for those no longer able to care for their horse, low cost/no cost gelding programs, assist qualified horse owners with low cost/ no cost euthanasia when appropriate and the retraining, repurposing and rehoming of rescued horses such as OTTB's.
Through our programs and our rescue volunteers often state they find inner peace, relief from anxiety and depression, diminished stress levels, and serenity all the while developing camaraderie with others. For others it is the opportunity to reconnect with horses after an absence from being with them. For many teens who love horses they just can't get enough of being around them.
