The Volunteer In-Home Visitor Program provides homebound Veterans with the opportunity to have qualified and trained volunteers come into their homes and provide a break for the primary caregiver. Compassionate volunteers are carefully matched with Veterans based on geographic location and common interests.
The volunteer providing support will visit once a week for four hours. The companionship, intellectual engagement and reassurance these visits provide boosts the mental health and quality of life of Veterans in our community while giving the caregiver a much deserved break.
Volunteer In-Home Visitors provide:
Companionship for a Veteran, friendship with a Veteran and their family, and a break for the caregiver.
Volunteer In-Home Visitors do NOT provide:
Household chores, physical hands-on care, medications or transportation of the Veteran.
Minneapolis VA is currently looking for volunteers with weekday availability to serve Veterans in the Oak Park Heights and surrounding areas.
