Minneapolis VA Health Care System
Volunteer drivers provide transportation locally for Veterans to and from the Minneapolis VA Medical Center for their appointments. Drivers start and end their day at the Medical Center and use a DAV supplied van to transport our Veterans. Shifts are Monday through Friday during regular business/day time hours.
With current safety policies and procedures during the COVID pandemic, all who enter the facility are required to wear a face mask. Additionally, Volunteer drivers are required to wear a face mask during transport of patients who are also required to wear a face mask while in the vehicle. Volunteer drivers are also required to disinfect/sanitize the DAV vehicles between transports with provided supplies.
Volunteer drivers must:
Pass a basic physical exam with Minneapolis VA Occupation Health
Provide, and maintain, a copy of their safe driving record
Provide proof of personal automobile insurance
Consent to fingerprinting and successfully pass background check
Complete annual training for VA medical center and DAV volunteer drivers
