Do you want to volunteer and get some exercise at the same time? If so, the Minneapolis VA is seeking Volunteers in our Escort Department to physically escort Veterans to and from their various appointments throughout the medical center. This position also covers posting within our vaccination clinic to assist with escorting through the vaccination process.
This fast-paced opportunity will require Volunteers whom are energetic, patient-centered, flexible, have excellent verbal communication skills and have the physical ability to push a wheelchair and/or litter.
With current OSHA and VA safety policies and procedures during the COVID pandemic, all Volunteers are required to wear a medical face mask. Additionally, Patient Escort Volunteers will also be provided with a face shield which will need to be worn, along with their face mask, during escort runs and when in close patient contact. VHA Directive 1193 and VA Handbook 5019 requires that Volunteers in this role have a documented COVID-19 vaccine and Flu vaccine.
