ORGANIZATION: Minneapolis VA Health Care System

  • 35 people are interested

In this volunteer position you will have the opportunity to serve our nation's heroes by being the warm, smiling face that greets Veterans and their family members as they arrive at the Minneapolis VA.

First Impressions Curbside Volunteers welcome all to the medical center, provide a wheelchair to individuals needing assistance as they exit their vehicle at curbside, escort individuals through the entrances with a warm hand off and collect and stock wheelchairs at entrances as needed throughout their volunteer shift.

Volunteers must have the ability to stand for their 4 hour shift, have the physical ability to push wheelchairs, be able to hear and communicate clearly and can withstand hot and cold weather as the Volunteer is stationed outside the entrances for a majority of their shift.

With current OSHA and VA safety policies and procedures during the COVID pandemic, all Volunteers are required to wear a medical face mask. VHA Directive 1193 and VA Handbook 5019 requires that Volunteers in this role have a documented COVID-19 vaccine and Flu vaccine.

Current openings for curbside volunteers are:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday mornings 7am-11am
Wednesday, Friday afternoons 11am-3pm
