In this volunteer position you will have the opportunity to serve our nation's heroes by being the warm, smiling face that greets Veterans and those accompanying them as the enter and navigate through the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.

First Impressions Wayfinding Volunteers: welcome Veterans, their family members and visitors into the facility; assist with questions; and, provide information, directions and wayfinding. Wayfinding Volunteers are positioned at stations throughout the facility including the main entrances, elevator banks and satellite waiting rooms.

Volunteers must be able to hear and communicate clearly and have excellent customer service.

With current OSHA and VA safety policies and procedures during the COVID pandemic, all Volunteers are required to wear a medical face mask. VHA Directive 1193 and VA Handbook 5019 requires that Volunteers in this role have a documented COVID-19 vaccine and Flu vaccine.

Additionally, Wayfinding Volunteers will be provided with a face shield that will be required to be worn, along with their face mask, for the duration of their shift.

Current need for Wayfinder Volunteers:
Friday afternoons 11am-3pm

Minneapolis VA Health Care System is a teaching hospital providing a full range of patient care services with state-of-the-art technology, as well as education and research. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary care, tertiary care and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics and extended care. The Minneapolis VA Health Care System provides for the health care needs of Veterans in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
