VOLUNTEER POSITION: Infant-Baby Room Support

YWCA Children’s Center Infant Room - Main Site

POSITION HOURS: Monday - Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm - Flexible

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Support staff by caring for infants and babies during play, feeding/meals and

Naptime. Implement the YWCA’s mission to: Eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be 18 years of age, or
2. Must be at least 17 years of age, and in vocational for Early Education
3. Enjoy working with infants and babies
4. Willingness to hold, rock, and sing to infants and babies
5. Demonstrated ability to work with people/children of diverse backgrounds
6. Calm Demeanor
7. Patience
8. Empathy
9. Knowledge handling and feeding infants and babies
10. TB test if necessary
11. Fingerprint if necessary

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide assistance to staff as needed
2. Rock infants and babies
3. Feed infants and babies (bottles/meals)
4. Reading, and engaging and age-appropriate activities
5. Assist staff with sanitation and clean-up
6. Safeguard confidential information gained as a result of the volunteer position
7. No diaper duty

1. Tour Children’s Center/Infant Room
2. Children’s Center Orientation
3. Review Volunteer Orientation, handbook, and job description
