Museum Store and Visitor Services Assistants will be cross-trained to help in multiple areas. Their main duties will be as Front Desk and Museum Store Attendants. The Museum Store serves as an ongoing fundraising source for the High Point Historical Society. Additional duties may include answering the phone and taking attendance. This position is very important as these volunteers are the face of the Museum and add a personal touch our visitors experience.
In this position, volunteers assist the Museum Store manager with preparing and selling merchandise, including running the cash register, counting money and making change. They also keep track of attendance greet visitors and answer general questions about the Museum and Historical Park.

Description
The High Point Museum, a division of the High Point Public Library, is a local history museum. The museum features public programs, permanent and changing exhibits detailing the history of greater High Point. Adjacent to the museum is a historical park consisting of the 1786 Haley House (oldest house in High Point on its original location), c. 1801 Hoggatt House, and a c. 1841 blacksmith shop. Costumed interpreters are available on Saturdays to guide visitors through the park and periodically offer demonstrations of eighteenth century crafts and skills.

- Driver's License Needed
- Must be at least 18
- We ask our visitor service volunteers to work a minimum of two, two-hour shifts per month for a total of at least 4 hours. Shifts are available Tuesday-Friday during standard Museum operating hours.
- Fluency or Proficiency in a second language is desirable.
