We are a non profit providing free tutoring to those who have adopted (or are fostering) dogs from shelters or rescue organizations. We have a beautiful four acre facility that is mirrored to be like a park so that adopters can obtain coaching for their dogs in a natural, zen like setting. One area of our facility needs dirt to be delivered and placed. If you have access to dirt and can deliver it to our facility we would be so very grateful. The amount of dirt needed would be equivalent to that which a person could load onto the bed of a small sized pick up truck.

We try to maintain a zen-like environment on our six acre facility so that people and pets can learn in a stress free environment. You assistance with providing dirt helps us to prepare our walking area for planting of native species to encourage pollinators and provide habitat for wildlife. We are certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a habitat that supports good practices for the environment.

Our volunteers are special people as they don't get to see the people and pets they are helping (most of our canine clients are super scared or reactive towards people so when volunteers are onsite no dogs are visiting). But please know that your helping hands free up our hands to be able to reach and teach more rescued dogs and their people.

Please visit our website to see pictures of our website so you know that you will be working in a very peaceful outdoor environment should you chose us for your volunteerism. www.doingrightbyrescues.org

Small non profits like ours are only sustainable because of the kindness of volunteers, so thank you for taking a peek at our website and considering us for your volunteerism.

Did you hear the news? Because of our client's stories we have just received one of New Jersey's first Great Nonprofits of 2020 award! Your volunteerism helps us to free up our time to create more stories like these our clients have shared in the link below;

About Doing Right By Rescues

Location:

P.O. Box 552, Pennington, NJ 08534, US

Mission Statement

We are a non profit with two missions; To provide tutoring to individuals who have rescued dogs and to provide low cost educational sessions relevant to those who rescue or foster animals.

Description

We provide assistance with non traditional dog training (not formal obedience) for those who have kindly opened their homes and hearts to rescued dogs. We specialize in providing tips, training and equipment recommendations to deal with reactivity issues which sometimes come with rescued dogs. We also provide hands on customized instruction at our six acre zen-like training facility to help people learn techniques to calm and destress their rescued dogs.

Whether a person has adopted a dog (or is fostering a dog for a non profit organization) we work one on one (no group classes) to support them as they help dogs transition from rescue to rehomed. We also offer home visits for rescued dogs adopted by senior citizens who may be unable to come to our facility.

We are certified Tellington Touch Practitioners and members of the Pet Professionals Guild for Force Free Training and have signed a pledge to employ only kind, positive reinforcement and humane handling techniques at our tutoring barn.
