During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
We are looking for caring individuals to provide companionship/socialization to our terminally ill patients or respite for their caregivers. Many patients like being read to: some enjoy being taken outside to enjoy the weather and view. A volunteer could also assist the social worker or grief counselor with mailings from time to time. Anyone who can sew, knit, crochet, or quilt could make lap blankets for patients or assist at our annual memory bear workshop (in Jacksonville).
***NOTE***DUE TO THE CURRENT CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC, VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO VISIT PATIENTS OR ENTER OUR OFFICES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE FROM THE NC STATE DEPT. OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES. THEY CAN, HOWEVER, SEND CHEERFUL NOTES TO PATIENTS. WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS WHO CAN MAKE LAP QUILTS OR SHAWLS FOR PATIENTS AS WE ARE APPROACHING COLDER WEATHER.
