Receive and Deliver Donated Food - Woodburn

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Marion Polk Food Share

Statement of Purpose:

Roughly 40% of food goes uneaten while in Oregon, 1:8 neighbors and 1:5 children are living with food insecurity. At Marion Polk Food Share and AWARE, we recover nearly 3 million pounds of food from retail grocery partners every year, helping us to provide meals to 40,000 neighbors-14,000 children each month.

With care for customer service and food and community safety, volunteer drivers will pick up and deliver foods and goods on schedule as the public face of both AWARE and The Food Share. Morning shifts are available Monday through Friday.

A Volunteer Driver Will:
  • Safely drive personal or organizational vehicle to pick up and deliver food and other products along a scheduled route, or as assigned.
  • Maintain schedule, ensuring donors and recipients are provided a regular and consistent, positive experience.
  • Represent AWARE Food Bank and Marion Polk Food Share while establishing and growing positive relationships with donors, customers and various community members.
  • Occasionally troubleshoot minor donation-related issues with kindness, informing and deferring to coordinators if issues escalate.
  • Follow guidelines to ensure quality and safety of the products: at donation point, delivery method, and final delivery.
  • Maintain a current food handler’s card or ServSafe for Food Banking equivalent.
  • Separate and weigh product as it's loaded and unloaded from the delivery vehicle.
  • Verify receipt of inventory accepted as donation; safeguard inventory while in transit and at point of delivery or pick up, inform Coordinator of any variances.

Contact our volunteer coordinator at ahammerstrom@marionpolkfoodshare.org or call 503-581-3855 to learn more about how you can begin picking up and delivering donations for AWARE Food Pantry!
