We are looking for 2 new Trail Captains for the Hubbs Trail here at Agua Hedionda Lagoon!!

Trail Captains are the lead intern to oversee trail maintenance. They will have the responsibility of performing basic maintenance on a regular basis on a trail. Duties include a biweekly trail inspection of an assigned trail and completion of trail inspection form. Basic maintenance includes vegetation trimming and clearing encroaching vegetation, removal of debris and obstacles from the trail corridor, and picking up trash. If wanted, trail captains can take on more responsibility and assist in invasive species removal and small construction projects. A trail captain may also request and help plan maintenance events with additional volunteers. All work should be performed in a manner to protect the environment, natural resources, and the recreational experience of walkers. It is important to maintain good relationships with California Department of Fish and Game, the City of Carlsbad, and especially private landowners over whose land the trails pass. The most important thing is your own personal safety. If any task seems dangerous please report the problem to the foundation and it will be handled accordingly. Trail Captains work on their own pace and schedule and can request volunteer assistance through the foundation.

If you are interested in helping to preserve the local environment and giving back to the community please reach out to Lauren Rabak at 760-804-1969 or at lauren@aguahedionda.org
