Could you spare a couple of hours per week? Hospice Companion and Caregiver Respite
7 people are interested
Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back and are interested in volunteering with Hospice patients? Volunteers are an extremely integral part of our Encompass Hospice Team and the end-of-life care we provide.
We are currently looking for patient care volunteers who provide non-medical services and respite time for caregivers and family members.
This can include the following:
- Providing companionship & socializing with our patients in their own homes or facilities.
- Playing games, watching TV, reading, playing music/listening to music with the patient, or simply visiting with the patient.
- Providing caregiver relief where you spend time with the patient in their home and allow the primary caregiver to leave and attend doctor appointments, grocery shop or simply run errands.
Come join the Encompass Hospice Volunteer TEAM!
Be a part of our special team of Encompass Hospice Volunteers. We care for our patients in the place they call home -- a private residence, skilled nursing facility, assisted living facility, or other inpatient setting. Just a few hours a week can make a lasting impact on the lives of others.
Direct Patient Care - Sitting with patients, reading, working puzzles, watching tv/movies and sharing life stories. This may also include Caregiver Respite where you will visit with the patient while the caregiver runs errands, takes time for themselves or goes to appointments.
Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and be at least 17 years old.
If you are interested in this wonderful volunteer opportunity, please email Susan Tomlin at Susan.Tomlin@encompasshealth.com
At Encompass Health, we believe hospice is not a place, but rather a philosophy of care. Our goal is to bring dignity and comfort home by offering compassionate care to patients and their families during the final stages of life.
Encompass Health is looking for a [specify what type of volunteer] to provide [specify services] to patients during their final months and weeks of life. Volunteers provide non-medical services and respite time for caregivers and family members. As a hospice volunteer, you will be given choices as to how much and what types of things you want to do.
A few ways you can help as a hospice volunteer is by running errands for patients and families, playing games or reading with patients, walking and caring for family pets, or even creating a photo album of the patient and their family.
