Help a veteran 9/11 firefighter - Springfield

ORGANIZATION: Fairfax Area Agency on Aging

  • 2 people are interested

A former firefighter who responded to the September 11th attacks in NYC needs a friendly person to visit him twice a month in Springfield for 1-2 hours at a time. You can help by becoming a Respite Care volunteer! These volunteers give family caregivers a well-deserved break. There's no "hands on" care and his caregiver plans to remain on site during your visit.

This gentleman is in his 60's, has Alzheimer's and would love to show you his memorabilia or go for walks in the neighborhood. Support and training are provided.

For this and other meaningful volunteer opportunities contact Volunteer Solutions at 703-324-5406, TTY 711, VolunteerSolutions@fairfaxcounty.gov, or visit:
