Would you like to form a new connection and help combat isolation? Volunteers are needed to socialize with older adults or adults with disabilities, in-person or by phone, weekly. Schedules are flexible. The participants are connected to Fairfax County's Department of Family Services case managers, and many of them receive Meals on Wheels. Volunteer mealtime visitors are also needed, and they should bring their own meal or snack, at lunch or dinnertime. Schedules are flexible and mutually determined by the recipient and volunteer. Especially needed in the Annandale and Alexandria regions. Bilingual volunteers are needed, too! Do you have your own car? If you're willing to spare a few hours per month to drive an older adult in your community, you could make a big difference! Drivers are needed to help people get to routine doctors' appointments. Preventive check-ups and medical visits help reduce the number of ER visits that occur. It's flexible, usually during weekdays when medical offices are open. You may also be asked if you're available to take someone to the pharmacy to pick up their medication. Flexible! Do you enjoy volunteering in group settings? Are you artistic or crafty? Bilingual? Are you a dancer or fitness instructor? Do you sew or knit? Could you provide entertainment? Brighten the lives of older adults in your community! Older adults attend Fairfax County Senior Centers to connect, socialize, move, create, and learn. These programs are rely upon volunteers to help instruct or lead groups, or assist with activities. Provide volunteer support to center participants in any number of ways, at various Fairfax County senior centers. Interested in volunteers with skills in: painting, drawing, watercolor, crafts, jewelry-making, knitting, crochet, pottery, cooking, fitness, dance, playing an instrument, singing, or vocal instruction. Have you taught fitness? Do you enjoy volunteering in group settings? Brighten the lives of older adults! Older adults attend Fairfax County Senior Centers to connect, socialize, move, create, and learn. These programs are highly reliant upon volunteers to help instruct or lead groups, or assist with activities. Provide volunteer support to center participants in any number of ways, at various Fairfax County senior centers. Fitness instructors are needed in: Zumba, Tai Chi, SAIL, Yoga, Silver Sneakers, aerobics, cardio drumming, and other types, too. Line dance instructors are needed, too! Flexible! Don't let your valuable skill go to waste. Volunteer Solutions is a Partnership of Fairfax County's Family Services and Neighborhood & Community Services. Our volunteers help older adults, adults with disabilities and family caregivers. We have needs for bilingual social visitors (in person or by phone), grocery shoppers, mealtime visitors, drivers to medical appointments and errands. We also need language instructors and bilingual social visitors at senior centers. Language needs vary.
