ORGANIZATION: Sound Generations

Volunteer driver and a client

Are you looking for something fun to do... do you like to drive... do you want to make a difference? The seemingly simple act of giving a ride makes a huge difference in the lives of adults 55 and older seeking to age their way in their home.

Using their own vehicle (mileage reimbursement is an option), volunteer drivers help older adults maintain their independence by taking them to medical appointments and back home. Clients are enormously grateful for their improved access to medical care, meaningful interactions with caring volunteers, and increased peace of mind.

As a volunteer driver you choose how many rides you want to provide, what days and times, and to what area you want to drive. Most volunteers drive once a week, some quite a bit more, and some less. Rides are scheduled at least a week ahead of time.

Honestly, our volunteer drivers do a lot more than drive. By volunteering with Sound Generations Volunteer Transportation Program, drivers provide human connection, companionship and assurance. Help make a huge difference in the lives of seniors near you by becoming a volunteer driver.
