The seemingly simple act of giving a senior a ride can make a huge difference in their life. To be a volunteer driver for Sound Generations Volunteer Transportation program is to offer independence, companionship, and assurance.
Using their own vehicles (mileage reimbursement is an option), volunteer drivers take an adult 55 and older to their medical appointment and return them home. Clients are enormously grateful for their improved access to medical care, meaningful interactions with caring volunteers, and increased peace of mind.
The role of volunteer driver is very flexible: drivers choose how many rides they want to give, what days and times, and to what area they want to drive. Most of our volunteers give two rides a week. Some volunteers choose to give many more rides, some choose less.
If you have the "drive" to help others, a clean driving record, and some daytime availability, call Dana at (206) 605-3726, or email her at danap@soundgenerations.org, or visit https://soundgenerations.org/get-involved/volunteer/ to find out more.
