HOPE Tutoring has been offering free, 1:1 tutoring for students in Arlington, Texas for the past 26 years. All of our students are in grades 2 - 8. We are seeking volunteers to assist with our camps.

Before Camp:
  • Reading camp volunteers will be trained on proven strategies to help children learn to read and spell.
  • Math c amp volunteers will attend training to learn about our planned activities.
During Camp :
  • Reading camp volunteers will work one-on-one with children as they read, journal, and learn spelling strategies.
  • Math c amp volunteers will assist with fun, group activities and spend some one-on-one time with kids, helping them transfer the math concepts into solutions to math problems.

Reading Camps:

East Library, 1817 New York Ave

June 24-28, Monday - Friday, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Southeast Library, 900 SE Green Oaks Blvd

June 24-28, Monday - Friday, 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Math Camp:

Epworth UMC Family Life Center, 1400 S Cooper

July 22-26, Monday - Friday, 10:00-12:00 pm

Summer camp tutors must complete orientation and undergo a background check. (HOPE volunteers who are currently registered for the 2023-24 school year do not need to repeat this process.)

We will hold training for all volunteers. Times will be announced soon.

Description

H.O.P.E. is a community-wide, non-profit organization that partners with local churches, public libraries, and Arlington ISD, which provide facilities for our volunteers to tutor elementary and junior high students during the school year. We also offer virtual tutoring. During the summer, H.O.P.E. offers summer camps focused on math, reading, science, computers and music.
