If you love animals and understand how important pets are to our emotional well being, this is an opportunity for you. The Pet Peace of Mind(tm) program is designed to keep pets with their person at the end of life.
Our Pet Peace of Mind(tm) volunteers deliver food, provide transportation to the vets and/or groomers, walk dogs, clean crates and kennels, and provide any other services that will make it possible for our hospice patients to keep their pets with them for as long as possible. Though most pets are taken by friends or families after our patients die, we also help with placement when needed.
We’re looking for hands on help to provide these services as part of our commitment to our patients and their pets.
PLEASE NOTE: Though Pet Peace of Mind(tm) is an important part of our volunteer program, the demand is often intermittent which means I may not be able to keep you busy on a regular basis. Though I’m happy to have volunteers I can call when the need arises, I would encourage anyone interested, to consider other ways you might serve our patients in addition to the Pet Peace of Mind(tm) program. We have a multitude of options...Reiki, massage, companionship, transportation, running errands, staying with a patient so the caregiver can have a break, bereavement followup and the list goes on and on.
Full training and ongoing support provided.

Description
Hospice care is considered to be the model for quality and compassionate care for people facing a terminal illness. At the center of hospice care is the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free, with dignity and the comfort of knowing our families will receive the necessary support to allow us to do so.
Overlook Hospice Services provides a program of care to meet the needs of individuals, and their caregivers, nearing the end of life’s journey. Skilled professionals and dedicated volunteers help support both the patient and their families. Hospice Services helps relieve the physical, emotional, and social pain, which enables the seriously ill person to life at home with family, comfort and dignity. The support provides help to cope with the circumstances associated with a terminal illness
Hospice care is a philosophy of care that accepts dying as a natural part of life. When death is inevitable, hospice seeks neither to hasten nor postpone it.
