Neighborhood Youth Association (NYA)

  • 6 people are interested

Neighborhood Youth Association is a nonprofit organization that provides academic tutoring, leadership development and life skills to low-income and at-risk youth. We are based in Venice, and serve students after school from south and west LA.

As part of our leadership program, NYA provides elective classes. We would like to offer an improv class. This class would be 1-2 hours, once a week for the school year (after school). We are flexible on the time and can work with the volunteers' schedules. The class would be small (5-12 students). Improv classes in the past have been extremely popular and successful in help students build confidence and public speaking skills. We would like to offer this class to both high school and middle school students.

We do not require prior teaching experience, but are looking for people who are passionate about contributing to the community and social justice.
