An innovative community established in 1989, Capitol Hill Action & Recreation Group (CHARG) is a joint venture of people who believe that effective and lasting empowerment of persons with mental illness occurs when they can make decisions regarding their needs, and that they thrive with dependable and ongoing services. In addition to providing opportunities for human support and friendship, CHARG Resource Center offers specific services at its various locations that include a mental health clinic, a drop-in center, and homeless outreach.
Join Project Helping volunteers to make and serve a lunch for the CHARG Resource Center community! CHARG serves adults with major mental illnesses, and the Drop-In Center is free to anyone over age 18 currently in mental health treatment. It is a warm & welcoming place where one can sit quietly and read or socialize in a variety of groups. Project Helping will contribute a free lunch for community members.
