Outreach initiatives advance the use of Lighthouse Guild services through strategic, targeted contacts, collaborations, partnerships and activities with organizations and individuals in the community.

A bright, enthusiastic student is needed to help with outreach activities. The responsibilities include: general administrative duties; arranging, tracking and reporting on outreach activities; advancing awareness of and increasing referrals to Lighthouse Guild services from medical and health professionals and the general public.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update outreach contact database, inputting information received from referrals, presentations, meetings, etc.
  • Monitor outreach portion of website for outdated content.
  • Monitor outreach-related referrals, to ensure that referring providers receive feedback on their patients/clients.
  • Handle requests for Lighthouse Guild participation in health fairs and other community forums, participate in them and/or arrange for coverage by staff and/or other volunteers, as appropriate.
  • Follow up on outreach activities to ensure that potential clients are enrolled in appropriate Lighthouse Guild services.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to maintain detailed records is necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Ability to research and write is necessary.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Computer skills, including Word and Excel are necessary.
An introduction to the Lighthouse Guild and orientation to outreach programs, reaching physicians, other health care and service professionals, older adults, etc. will be provided. Human services, communications or related major preferred, but will consider candidates from other fields who possess the appropriate skills and qualifications.

  • The internship days and times are negotiable. A minimum of 8 hours per week is required during business hours, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday though Friday. Some weekend hours may be required.
  • Business casual attire (no jeans, no sneakers) is required during the internship.
