Bereavement Volunteers are an essential part of the team at Brighton Hospice. With their generosity of time, energy and skills, we have been able to offer on-going support to patients and their families. Bereavement volunteers can help family and close friends who have been affected by the illness and death of a Brighton patient.

As a Brighton Bereavement Support Volunteer, you will be making monthly phone calls to check in with family members, caregivers, or friends of a patient. Our volunteers enable callers to talk about their concerns on the phone and provide them with community resources if they need further support and information. This is a great opportunity for students studying social work or counseling try providing hands on experience in this field.

Bereavement Support Volunteers work closely with our Bereavement Coordinator and receive specialized training and support.

We would love to hear from you if you enjoy telephone contact, have good listening skills and feel a calling to do this work. Must be 18 years old.

For an application packet and program information please contact Connie Smith, Volunteer Coordinator at 503-430-7699 or by email at ckuyothsmith@brightonhospice.com.
