Bereavement Volunteers are an essential part of the team at Brighton Hospice. With their generosity of time, energy and skills, we have been able to offer on-going support to patients and their families. Bereavement volunteers can help family and close friends who have been affected by the illness and death of a Brighton patient. As a Brighton Bereavement Support Volunteer, you will be making monthly phone calls to check in with family members, caregivers, or friends of a patient. Our volunteers enable callers to talk about their concerns on the phone and provide them with community resources if they need further support and information. This is a great opportunity for students studying social work or counseling try providing hands on experience in this field. Bereavement Support Volunteers work closely with our Bereavement Coordinator and receive specialized training and support. We would love to hear from you if you enjoy telephone contact, have good listening skills and feel a calling to do this work. Must be 18 years old. For an application packet and program information please contact Connie Smith, Volunteer Coordinator at 503-430-7699 or by email at ckuyothsmith@brightonhospice.com.

Become A Brighton Hospice Volunteer No experience required. We are searching for Volunteers with compassionate hearts and the desire to make a patient’s remaining days as fulfilling as possible. Volunteering as a patient companion is about the gift of one’s presence and spending just a little of your time to sit with those who are facing life limiting illness. Volunteering can be as simple as holding a hand, reading, or playing a game. At times it might involve listening to cherished memories, sharing laughter and conversation. Being a patient companion volunteer is as individual as you are and is about bringing joy to you and others. Our volunteers work in the home of a patient, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or wherever a patient might reside. Volunteers determine when and how much time they can provide; whether that be a couple of hours a week, or a few hours each month. Must be 18 years old. For more information, please contact Connie Smith at Brighton Hospice main number 503-430-7699, or by email at ckuyothsmith@brightonhospice.com Check out our videos to learn why this is an incredible opportunity. https://brightonhospice.com/hospice_volunteers_brighton/ Requirements to volunteer: Driver’s License (if driving) Proof of Auto Insurance (if driving) Complete on-line training and orientation Background Check and TB screen (all provided).
