Martin Volunteers is a program of United Way that recruits volunteers for non-profit agencies in Martin County.
The mission of the organization where this opportunity is located is to provided non-medical, financial assistance to adults undergoing cancer treatment in Florida to allow them to focus on fighting cancer.
Patient Support Volunteers are needed to provide non-medical needs of patients in the treatment area. Volunteers will provide comfort and companionship, a listening ear, a smile, light refreshments, blankets and pillows, and assist the nursing staff as needed. Patience, kindness and compassion required.
Must commit to 3 hours per week for a minimum of six months. Phone interview and background check required. Must be able to stand and walk for a walk during shift with light lifting, carrying and bending.
