You are invited to volunteer August 23 rd at YWCA Hartford Region’s first Back to School BBQ!

Volunteers will help

  • Set up
  • Help guests at book tables choose books by grade and language
  • Holding signs to direct traffic into the right parking
  • Clean up
Shifts to volunteer are from 3:00- 5:00pm and 5:00-7:00 pm. We need about 8 volunteers for each slots and slots are available on a first come basis.

At YWCA Hartford Region's Back to School Barbeque event families will be able to select books the whole family can read together, enjoy great food fresh from the grill and get children ready to begin the new school year strong. We will also provide free hair cuts and natural hair braiding, face painting and other fun activities, including community safety resources from the Hartford Police and Fire Departments. The event is free to the public.

    Volunteers with this shift will help with the event as well as with clean up.
  • Fri Aug 23, 2019 - 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM
    Volunteers in this shift will help set up as well as helping with the event.

  • Must be at least 16
  • This is a one time service opportunity (though you will be welcome to volunteer with YWCA Hartford Region again). This event has two 2 hour shifts but you are welcome to volunteer for both.
  • Ability to be on your feet for two hours.
