Mended Hearts volunteers are heart patients or family members of individuals who are impacted by heart disease. Volunteers visit hospitalized patients and their families to offer a listening ear, encouraging words and information regarding resources available after discharge, including monthly educational/support meetings. Some volunteers also provide phone support.

Description
One simple act of kindness can change a person's entire outlook. The Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System volunteer team provides compassionate, non-clinical support to patients, visitors and hospital staff with this objective in mind while also supporting each other as a team.

- Weekly 2 hour shift preferred, but scheduling can be flexible based on your availability.
- Mended Hearts visitors complete accreditation training provided by the national nonprofit organization, Mended Hearts, Inc. in addition to Salinas Valley Health volunteer orientation.
