Are you 50+ and want to make a difference in the life of a child? Volunteer 4 - 8 hours a week during the school year.
Join our AARP Foundation Experience Corps Intergenerational Team and help kids at MILL PARK ELEMENTARY learn to read!
Volunteers work one on one with elementary school students, helping them become better readers and instilling in them the love of learning.
No experience is needed - just a desire to make a difference, and a love of children! We provide dynamic and interactive training, and full support.
AARP Foundation Experience Corps, a program of Metropolitan Family Service, is an innovative, award-winning national service program that connects older adult tutors and mentors to students in public schools throughout the Portland Metro Area.

Mission Statement
Metropolitan Family Service helps people move beyond the limitations of poverty, inequality and social isolation. We serve children, families and older adults in the tri-county area. MFS is dedicated to building stronger communities by providing services, connecting people with resources, and offering meaningful and rewarding volunteer opportunities.
Description
Metropolitan Family Service (MFS) volunteers serve in various capacities, depending on their areas of interest and abilities. Volunteers participate in on-going opportunities in one of three focus areas: helping children succeed, strengthening families and their connections to the community, and helping older adults and persons with disabilities live independently. We create opportunities that bridge generations and inspire everyone to live their best life.
