Help a couple in your neighborhood who are struggling making ends meet. The husband works hard since his wife had a stroke and is home alone all day. She doesn't need care, she is just lonely. Looking for a volunteer who can make a 2 hour commitment during the week day to spend with her tidying up and providing companionship.
Volunteer Services, a program of Catholic Community Services, assists low-income elders and persons living with disabilities. Volunteers can provide assistance with light housecleaning, transportation, grocery shopping, home repair and yard care. With a little help from volunteers, clients can continue to live independently in their homes. Volunteers who drive clients must be age 21 or older, and have a good driving record.
