Rukundo International is looking for a dynamic leader in the Gaithersburg, MD area to help organize and facilitate a fundraising bowling tournament, with an estimated 50-100 participants.
As lead volunteer, you would be responsible for:
October, 2019:
- identifying bowling team leads from our database of volunteers through emails and phone calls (10-20 recruits needed)
- identifying bowling team participants from our database of volunteers through emails and phone calls (50-100 recruits needed)
-providing pre-written instructions to above recruits (working with our graphic designer and Director of Communications)
- attend planning meeting(s)
November and December, 2019:
- liaising with and encouraging team leads through regular communications to make sure that team members are reaching fundraising goals ($500/participant)
- disseminating awareness information on social media and other platforms to facilitate fundraising
-providing pre-written information to leaders
- assisting with planning bowling tournament (venue, food, drinks, awards, etc)
- attend planning and progress meeting(s)
January, 2019
- facilitating bowling tournament
-assisting with sending thank you's to funders and all volunteers
- attend planning and post-assessment meeting(s)
We estimate this position to require 5-10 hours/week, at leisure. Most activities can be completed virtually. Bowling tournament will take place in or near Gaithersburg, MD.
All funds raised will be used to support our educational and economic programs for vulnerable communities in Uganda.

Founded in 2014, Rukundo International (RI) is dedicated to the overarching goal to empower women and children in Kabale, Uganda, acting as a partner and advocate, to ensure they have the basic human resources necessary to reach their full potential and to be successful. RI is also dedicated to fostering global awareness between individuals in the US and Uganda, providing opportunities to authentically learn about new cultures and develop meaningful relationships with those outside their community.
Our Impacts
- Close to 3,000 Ugandans with access to safe water through installation of four water sources
- 50 vulnerable boys who are "off the streets" due to our boys soccer program
- 136 students enrolled in the Rukundo Preparatory School
- 1,165 girls graduated from the Girls Empowerment Program
- 57 students participating in the Scholars Program
- 22 women participating in the Women’s Cooperative to gain extra income for their households
- 100+ children engaged in our weekly Community Center programs
RI is currently partnered with Kyanamira - a small, rural community in Southwest Uganda - to create holistic, sustainable programs that provide opportunities for education, nutrition, hygiene, social development, & economic success. Working collaboratively with local government officials, community leaders, and the people, RI helps orphans, financially distressed families, and at-risk youth within the community.
