ORGANIZATION: Phinney's

Phinney's is looking for enthusiastic, dedicated people like you to join our 100% volunteer staff. We believe that the human-animal bond is a source of love, joy, comfort, and fulfillment for both people and their pets. So we help low-income people with disabling illnesses or other hardships maintain this bond with their pets by providing assistance with everyday pet care.

The Opportunity:

Become a member of our Communications Team by penning original, creative content for our Pet Godparents Program. You will be published and get your own by-line.

What's the Pet Godparents Program?

The purpose of the program is to encourage donors to become a "godparent" to one (or more!) of the pets we help regularly. At Phinney's, pets are our clients as much as their humans are, and we always make sure our pet clients have everything they need--from medical care to food to daily care. We want you to write about these pets and their people to highlight the great work that Phinney's is doing -- and hopefully encourage others to support us in our work by donating and volunteering.

Job Responsibilities and Expectations:

--Write stories of two to three paragraphs about the pets we support and their parents

--Interview volunteers and clients to find the content for such stories

--Craft this content into compelling stories for our website, Facebook page and newsletters

Qualifications

--Be able to commit to writing one story per month

--Be reliable with deadlines

--Work with other volunteers to determine needs

--Be compassionate, kind and patient with the people interviewed

--Be ready to help the client send pictures or schedule a photographer outing

--Be able to work independently and be persistent to obtain the whole story with picture

--Be able to maintain confidentiality

--Strong writing, editing skills

--Strong interpersonal skills (verbal and written)

--Ability to meet (sometimes tight) deadlines

--A sense of humor

Apply by sending a brief paragraph outlining why you’re interested in this position to Daniela at phinneysfriends@gmail.com.
