Overview Do you know any assignment editors, radio and/or TV producers, reporters, other local media professionals or social media influencers? If so, we'd love to talk to you! We are looking for volunteers with radio, TV, social media, and newspaper contacts here in Massachusetts to help our PR Manager with pitching story ideas about Phinney's to area editors, producers, and reporters. The Associate PR/Press Relations Manager volunteer position is an excellent opportunity to: (1) help create and drive the strategy and communications efforts of an innovative animal welfare non-profit organization; (2) develop external advocacy and promotional communications; and (3) take part in insightful Communications Committee discussions with seasoned PR professionals. The Public Relations Manager reports to the Communications Co-Chairs and works in collaboration with the Board of Directors. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Communications Committee to ensure the necessary support for: Newsletters and reports Marketing Website management and content Social media outreach Communications for programs and development Qualifications and Expectations BA preferred (in Communications, Journalism, Marketing a plus, but not required) Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including the ability to articulate the mission and goals of Phinney’s Friends in an engaging, articulate, and accessible way Strategic and creative thinker, who knows how to imagine, create, implement and deliver with attention to every detail from look, to message, to timing Ability to analyze and translate complex concepts into interesting, compelling, clear, crisp, and concise written materials Strong project management & departmental management skills Ability to coordinate multiple projects under deadline Team player Sense of humor

Phinney’s is a small volunteer-based non-profit that relies heavily on online software and social media platforms. Overview Phinney’s is looking to fill a volunteer position of Tech Support Manager. This person should understand computers and be tech-savvy. Also this person should be able to provide support to volunteers with technology gaps and help advance Phinney’s online presence. Position Summary As a Tech Support volunteer, you would be responsible for the health and safety of all Phinney's online services. This role requires being available to teach, coach and help our volunteers get started and master the use of the products and services we adopted at Phinney's. Specifically, we are looking for a volunteer to: Develop, constantly review and update Phinney's online profiles, information and passwords for online products such as Google Workspace, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Hootsuite, Flipcause, Quickbooks, Canva, among others. Maintain the health and safety of our online accounts. Teach and coach Phinney's volunteers to use the products necessary to do our volunteer work. Propose improvements as well as develop and execute a plan for Phinney's online presence. Qualifications and Expectations Be able to commit to at least 2 years. Be available for 2-4 hours a week for this work and occasional online meetings with the team. Have strong project management skills to help manage numerous online products. Be organized to keep track of the cases and volunteer requests and make sure everything is followed through accordingly. Ability to think outside the box to help find a solution to an issue that may arise. Eager to learn and research information from several sources. Be proactive and creative. Must be kind, compassionate, patient and reliable. We will be interviewing candidates and requiring volunteers to pass a CORI background check.

Overview Phinney’s is looking for Client Coordinator volunteers who would be able to help screen cases of people asking for financial help with their pets. The cases are assigned to Coordinators via email and require volunteers to be able to respond in at least 24 to 48 hours (immediate availability is a plus). Volunteers must have time to dedicate to this responsibility to finish a case once started. Responsibilities Screening the pet owner via phone, email and/or text, according to what is possible for you and the pet owner. Getting a form filled out by the pet owner (sometimes this requires the volunteer to do the work if the pet owner is too frail, confused or ill to do it). Requesting, compiling and checking confidential documents from the pet owner requesting help. Phinney’s has a list of documents needed. Verifying if the treatment in question can be done for less at another clinic or with different tests. (This would involve consulting partnering vets, the vet clinic being considered or other experts) Talking to the vets and technicians to answer questions about the validity and necessity of the treatment. Making recommendations about the case to Phinney's Client Committee (this may require several interactions). Qualifications and Expectations Strong project management skills to manage a case seeing it through from the start to end. This is done under the supervision of the Client Committee. Organized to keep track of the case and make sure everything is followed through accordingly. Ability to think outside the box to help find a solution to the cases received. Eager to learn and research information from several sources. Must be kind, patient and reliable. Client Coordinators will receive training via video, or another medium if video is not possible.

Overview Phinney's Friends is seeking a volunteer Event Manager to assist with events that will help us attain fundraising goals to cover the expenses of pet care and pet supplies for those in need. While most events are online during the current pandemic, we will move to more in-person events as it becomes safe to do so. Responsibilities Partner with Fundraising Director and Fundraising Team to identify and plan event fundraising opportunities Serve as the point of contact for vendors, sponsors and event volunteers Manage the registration of attendees, including responding to questions Support marketing activities to drive registrations Assist with "Day of" management of activities Qualifications and Expectations Direct experience in planning and executing both small and large-scale events (online events is a plus) 2+ years’ experience in a professional environment is required Ability to project manage and manage/drive on simultaneous projects Strong customer focus and desire to collaborate with others Excellent organizational and communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to quickly adapt to change Exceptional attention to detail Ability to exhibit entrepreneurial behavior, humility, and a high sense of urgency Have patience and a sense of humor

Overview Phinney’s is looking for a volunteer Grant Go-getter to research grants, write materials for grants, help gather numbers for grants with our finance team, and other tasks that may arise as we move through the grant process. This role would report to the Grant Manager. Responsibilities Identify and select grants that Phinney’s Friends is eligible for Write letters of inquiry and materials for grant proposals Complete grant application forms Monitor and manage goals for a specific grant Identify opportunities to improve the grant outreach program as we move through the process Qualifications and Expectations Phinney’s is looking for more than one Grant Go-getter so we don’t expect volunteers to have all the following qualifications. Generally, we are looking for someone who can be sensitive to and tolerant of differing views. A volunteer must be responsive and have concern for the organization’s development. Depending on the role and responsibilities you choose to take on you should have at least one of the following qualifications and be comfortable with the expectations. Have an understanding of grant programs for nonprofits Have previous grant writing experience Be organized and be able to plan accordingly to meet deadlines Be able to multitask and keep track of several projects at a time with minimal supervision Able to take the initiative in identifying possible funding opportunities Have the ability to communicate, listen, analyze, and seek input from others when needed Must be able to work well with people individually and in a group Be willing to question what is presented, take responsibility, and follow through on given assignments Have the ability to open doors in the community and are well connected with the local community Have the ability to develop new skills according to the ongoing needs of the organization
