Looking to build your portfolio? Help document Words Alive's annual fundraising gala, Author's Luncheon!

Words Alive is looking for an outgoing and dynamic volunteer who has professional photography experience to photograph our signature annual fundraising event, the Author's Luncheon! All net proceeds benefit the organization and its essential literacy program for at-risk children, youth, and families. This year, Words Alive will host New York Times best-selling author, Emma Donoghue, in conversation with Seth Lerer at the annual event.

We are looking for both high quality color and black and white photos.

This is a great opportunity to build your professional portfolio, partner with the leading literacy nonprofit of San Diego County, and work for a great cause. We would love to meet with you to review your past events and shoots.

Goals and outcomes:

To provide Words Alive with media-quality images to use in our annual report and for general promotion.

Ideal volunteers Should:

Be at least 18 years old
Have at least 1-year experience shooting in color and black and white
Be professional, punctual, and communicative
Have an energetic, enthusiastic, welcoming and positive attitude
Have experience photographing people (preferred to wildlife, landscapes, and architecture)
Have reliable transportation
Have their own camera
Hours and location:

The event will take place at the Marriott Marquis Marina, located at 333 W Harbor Dr, San Diego, CA 92101 on Tuesday, September 10th, 2019.

Required Paperwork and training:

Successful candidates will submit a resume and sample portfolio pictures. Successful candidates will need to attend a volunteer orientation.
