WHAT WE WILL DO:
This unique collaboration will serve both patients at Denver Hospice AND the kiddos that Project Linus serves. 60 blankets to Denver Hospice and all the rest to Project Linus! Each volunteer will be given instructions on how to make a fidget blanket and will see everyone’s finished products before leaving. Project Helping is supplying all the materials, and we’re making fringe-tied blankets. No sewing or special skills are required, so everyone can join in!
OTHER DETAILS:
Project Helping is partnering with The Denver Hospice to make "fidget blankets" for patients with Alzheimer’s. Fidget blankets soothe and calm patients, thereby positively impacting nurses and doctors, as well as family members comforted knowing their loved ones feel more peaceful. Project Linus: Provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers." Learn more here: https://www.projectlinus.org/ Through the act of volunteering, you are actively investing in your community while also improving your mental wellness! Volunteering is proven to have numerous health benefits including improved mood, feeling healthier, increased sense of purpose and reducing stress levels. Volunteering can also give us a deep sense of happiness, both immediately and long-term. * 94% of people who volunteer say that volunteering improves their mood. * 96% of people who volunteer say that volunteering enriches their sense of purpose. This is just some of the science that supports the mission at Project Helping and outlines why it’s so beneficial to do good things for others. We call that practicing kyndfulness. #BeKyndBeWell Once you register, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details. We’ll also send a reminder email and a text a few days before the event! More Questions? Email Project Helping at volunteer@projecthelping.org or call 303-551-0624
