Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Nourishing Hope.

Nourishing Hope sees thousands of volunteers every year, and we are so grateful to have such a committed volunteer corps. We have a wide variety of opportunities for both individuals and groups to volunteer.

Nourishing Hope operates our Home Delivery program four Saturdays at the warehouse. We deliver essential food to elderly, physically disabled, and homebound people across Chicago. Volunteers have the opportunity to distribute food to their neighbors in need, and we would love to have you join our Home Delivery crew.

Our Home Delivery North Program shifts are:

Home Delivery North Packing

  • Saturday 9:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M.
  • Pack Home Delivery bags with food and load up cars with deliveries.

Home Delivery North Drivers

  • Saturday 10:30 A.M. - 1:00 P.M.
  • Pick up Home Delivery orders from 5151 N. Ravenswood
  • Deliver orders to 8-10 households in need of food
  • Requires use of your own car to drive the orders to clients

Mission Statement

Nourishing Hope (formerly Lakeview Pantry) strives to eliminate hunger in our community by: Providing food to fill the basic need of hungry people, increasing the independence of our clients through self-help initiatives and other innovative programs, and raising awareness of poverty and its solution.

Description

Nourishing Hope (formerly Lakeview Pantry) is a dynamic social services organization providing food, mental wellness counseling, and other social services, such as job and housing assistance, to our Chicago neighbors in need. While our doors are open to all, the vast majority of those we serve within our neighborhood may be disabled, working for minimum wage, recently unemployed, or the elderly. Whatever the reason, we are here to help. Founded in 1970, we strive to serve the needs of the whole person-with respect and dignity, always.
