WHAT WE WILL DO:

Project Helping volunteers will help Jovial Concepts participants with set up and maintenance for their urban gardens including turning soil, seeding, planting, weeding, and harvesting, depending on the time of the season.

WHERE TO MEET:

Meet in the east parking lot at Jovial Concepts. Check in with the Project Helping Kynd Leader when you arrive. They will be wearing a bright green Project Helping t-shirt. Your Kynd Leader will be with you the entire experience to make sure you have a blast! After the welcome and overview, smaller groups will divide up to do work at individual gardens around the Arvada-Golden-Littleton-Denver area.

OTHER DETAILS:

Nearly 1 in 5 households with children reported food hardship and more than 25% of working families in Colorado do not have enough food to meet their basic needs. By transforming 40 urban lawns into organic gardens, Jovial Gardens will grow enough fresh produce to feed 250 Colorado families. Using gardens as a classroom, participants learn sustainability, environmental awareness, healthy food practices, and how to combat obesity and other health issues associated with food hardships. hrough the act of volunteering, you are actively investing in your community while also improving your mental wellness! Volunteering is proven to have numerous health benefits including improved mood, feeling healthier, increased sense of purpose and reducing stress levels. Volunteering can also give us a deep sense of happiness, both immediately and long-term. * 94% of people who volunteer say that volunteering improves their mood. * 96% of people who volunteer say that volunteering enriches their sense of purpose. This is just some of the science that supports the mission at Project Helping and outlines why it’s so beneficial to do good things for others. We call that practicing Kyndfulness. #BeKyndBeWell Once you register, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details. We’ll also send a reminder email and a text a few days before the event! More Questions? Email Project Helping at volunteer@projecthelping.org or call 303-551-0624
