Distribute Food to Low-Income Seniors

ORGANIZATION: Project Helping

  • 12 people are interested

WHAT WE WILL DO:

Join Project Helping to provide nutritious food for low-income seniors to supplement their diets and improve their health. Eligible seniors receive a monthly food box consisting of non-perishable protein, milk (powdered or UHT), juice, cereal, canned or dried fruits and vegetables, and refrigerated cheese. We’ll join the assembly line to distribute the food boxes, or push a shopping cart collecting food and donations, then help the seniors load their food into their vehicles.

OTHER DETAILS:

Food Bank of the Rockies helps families thrive by efficiently procuring and distributing food and essentials to the hungry through their programs and partner agencies. Food is the foundation for a happy, healthy life. Hunger can be found everywhere - often where you least expect it. The homeless population represents only about 10% of our food recipients. The rest? Everyday people like low-wage workers, children, seniors on fixed incomes and individuals with health issues. Food Bank of the Rockies is working to feed them all. Food Bank of the Rockies DOES NOT distribute food directly to the public from their warehouse except for the third Saturday of the month from 9 - noon. Through the act of volunteering, you are actively investing in your community while also improving your mental wellness! Volunteering is proven to have numerous health benefits including improved mood, feeling healthier, increased sense of purpose and reducing stress levels. Volunteering can also give us a deep sense of happiness, both immediately and long-term. * 94% of people who volunteer say that volunteering improves their mood. * 96% of people who volunteer say that volunteering enriches their sense of purpose. This is just some of the science that supports the mission at Project Helping and outlines why it’s so beneficial to do good things for others. We call that practicing kyndfulness. #BeKyndBeWell Once you register, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details. We’ll also send a reminder email and a text a few days before the event! More Questions? Email Project Helping at volunteer@projecthelping.org or call 303-551-0624
