Seeking individuals that will enter private home of patient and prepare meals and put up for freezing or in Refrigerator. Will not be a daily activity, but maybe once a week or once every few weeks. Patients we service are terminally ill and are not able to stand over a stove or sink due to physical condition or oxygen being used.

This is a new venture for our volunteers and we would like to do it by trial and see if volunteers are interested in this task. Would try to keep your travel to a minimum. You will meet the patient prior to starting to verify that the situation is acceptable to both you and patient. There will be no shopping for patient, just cooking the food that has been purchased and is in the home already.

Description

Providing care and comfort to patients. Opportunities include direct patient visitation and administrative support. We provide feedback to schools for volunteer credit. We provide internships for those in nursing and social work. Travel will be limited, with the exception of internships, which may be only to visit different sites. Our goal is to provide companionship as well as socialization to those who express desire to have a volunteer visit. Our scope of activities may be limitless, we help with light housekeeping, running errands, helping with activities, quiet time to reflect and hear life experiences.
