Fundraising Volunteer/Intern

We are looking for energetic and fun-loving individuals to fill in internship/volunteer and part-time requirements for Operation Xcel.

Job Duties and Tasks May Consist of the Following

  1. Develop Organizations fundraising programs
  2. Monitor progress of fundraising drives
  3. Complete or develop material to submit to granting or the funding organizations
  4. Develop and maintain media contact lists
  5. Develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions
  6. recruit sponsors, participants, or volunteers for fundraising events
  7. Secure commitments of participation or donation from individuals or corporate donors
  8. Prepare material for charitable events, such as fundraising envelopes, bid sheets, or gift bags
  9. Create or update donor database
  10. Establish fundraising goals or participation goals for special events or specified time period
  11. Identify or build relationships with potential donors
  12. Design or produce materials such as posters, Web sites, or newsletters to promote, market, or advertise fundraising events
  13. Solicit cash or in-kind donations or sponsorship's from individual, business, or government donors.
  14. Write and send letters of thanks to donors.
  15. Write reports or prepare presentations to communicate fundraising program data.


  1. Proven experience in fundraising preferred
  2. Outstanding customer service ethic and high quality expectations
  3. Advanced communication skills, including writing, proof reading and speaking
  4. Ability to manage multiple projects independently
  5. Strong problem solving, organizational, project management and planning skills
  6. Experience with social media communications, publishing and usability a plus
  7. Advanced MS Office skills; Outlook, Word and Excel
  8. Some college required

Time Commitment:

Operation Xcel Board of Directors meets once a month on the third Tuesday of the month.

Responsibilities require 1-4 hours of work per week. Board Members are also expected to regularly attend Operation Xcel events. Board members are required to take a Child Protection Training which is conducted online and submit to a national background check.

Board members currently meet via zoom due to COVID restrictions. Operation Xcel has 6 locations. All are located in Guilford County: High Point, Greensboro, Gibsonville, and Stokesdale.
