Operation Xcel is an academic enrichment after-school program that seeks to transform the lives of areas of students and families through homework assistance, character development, family advocacy workshops, and community involvement. The majority of students that attend Operation Xcel are low-income students that are below grade level and are low-income families. We need volunteers to work with our k through 5th grade students as both mentors and academic tutors.

Event Planner Volunteer/Intern We are looking for energetic and fun-loving individuals to fill in internship/volunteer and part-time requirements for Operation Xcel. The Events Intern will assist in the planning, production, and execution of high-quality internal and external events in collaboration with donors, board members, partners, youth and staff. Responsibilities: Manage all project delivery elements within financial and time constraints, including event planning, design and production. Collaborate with clients to identify their needs, understand requirements for each event and ensure customer satisfaction. Book venues and schedule speakers. Research vendors (catering, decorators, musicians etc.) and choose the best combination of quality and cost. Manage event operations (preparing venue, invitations, etc.). - Complete final checks on day of event to ensure everything meets standards. Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems. Requirements: Proven experience in event planning, event coordinating preferred Outstanding customer service ethic and high quality expectations Advanced communication skills, including writing, proof reading and speaking Ability to manage multiple projects independently Strong problem solving, organizational, project management and planning skills Experience with social media communications, publishing and usability a plus Advanced MS Office skills; Outlook, Word and Excel Some college required Time Commitment: Operation Xcel Board of Directors meets once a month on the third Tuesday of the month. Responsibilities require 1-4 hours of work per week. Board Members are also expected to regularly attend Operation Xcel events. Board members are required to take a Child Protection Training which is conducted online and submit to a national background check. Position Benefits: In addition to gaining experience utilizing marketing and communications skills, implementing a marketing plan, and following a brand guide, general board members benefit from Gaining exposure to nonprofit governance procedures Developing and enhancing leadership skills Meeting awesome people who also want to enhance the nonprofit sector Learning about other young professional membership and nonprofit organizations Operation Xcel Board members are currently meeting via zoom due to COVID restrictions. We have 6 site locations currently in Guilford County: High Point, Greensboro, Gibsonville, and Stokesdale.

General Description Make a difference in the lives of hundreds of children and their families by transporting students to our after school program. Be a part of a not-for-profit team that is passionate to inspire learners to excel in every area of their lives and make meaningful changes in the world. Duties: - Safely transport passengers to and from designated locations - Maintain a clean and organized vehicle - Communicate effectively with passengers and provide excellent customer service - Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations - Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed - Follow established routes and schedules - Complete required paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely manner Experience: - Previous experience in school bus driving, paratransit, or commercial driving is preferred - Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions Shift Hours 1:45pm to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. If we have various volunteers we can alternate days. Note: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required for this position.
