Mentor's R Us Inc. is a Christian nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire and model sustainable life skills through hands on experiences for youth and adults. Mentoring is our core product by which we deliver inspiration, model and teach life skills, work with mentees to establish vocational goals, and provide affordable housing solutions.
Our Target Population is youth, (15-23) who are low income, unaccompanied(homeless), aged out of foster care, minority, those without high school diplomas, or those in Monroe county PA. not otherwise being served.
We are posting this open call for local & remote New Board Members who would like to use Mentor’s R Us Inc. as a place to serve, transform, and strengthen their community. You are encouraged to apply if you believe in:

Your Role as our board will consist of one of these positions:
Executive Board of Directors: President, VP, Treasurer, Secretary, 1Member, 2Member, 3Member ( https://work.chron.com/simple-job-descriptions-board-officers-12744.html)
Auxiliary Board of Directors: reports to the Executive Board of Directors and has is own committee. Its main function is fundraising and donor relations for the organization. Directors regular attend meetings, plans events, and one Director acts as a Liaison to the Executive Board of Directors. Other project assignments will be identified in meetings.
General Members: Directors regularly attend Board meetings and other important related meetings, make a serious commitment to participate actively in committee work, volunteer for and willingly accepts assignments from (President or Founder) and completes them thoroughly and on time, stays informed about committee matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports. Represents the organization in the community, make donations as needed, and signs documentation in timely fashions (including loans) so the business of MRU can move forward.
All Board Members are responsible for the following:
- Give or raise a personal gift in an amount that is meaningful to you.
- Contribute to strategic planning.
- Provide oversight over organizational assets.
- Mobilize your network for fundraising events and start-up showcases.
- Promote a culture of gratefulness by writing thank you cards to volunteers and donors.
- Review annual budget, audit reports, etc.
- Act as an ambassador of our organization at public events and in the media.
- Identify and recruiting other Board Member and volunteers.
- Contribute your individual talents and professional skills to our organization.
- Advocate for the nonprofit’s mission and clients.
- Attend all quarterly meetings
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Professional experience with leadership accomplishments in legal, finance, business, philanthropy, or government sector.
- Have an interest in building diverse community relationships with foundations, corporate partners, and community allies.
Be aware of the systems, policies, and issues that impact our participants.

Description
MRU acknowledges that Inspiration can unlock the keys to hidden potential in youth and adults. Our Programs match real world experiences with dreams that seem unattainable.
This program promises to improve relationships, self-esteem, social & life skills, emotional stability, morals, health and spiritual awareness. Mentor's and Mentees meet in teams for extra support. Activities are pre-arranged by topic to create the most beneficial environment for the youth and the Mentor.
MRU's Independent Living Program: Mentor's & Mentee's will share living quarters as MRU's philosophy expand to the home base. Mentee's will transition through the program in approximately three years until they gain their own independence into society.
